2018-album

The 2nd Annual Pediatric Critical Care Provider Course will be held at the University College Hospital, Ibadan Nigeria from June 25th-29th , 2018. The course consist of didactic lectures and simulated case scenarios complemented with practical skills acquisition drills.

Course Objectives

At the end of the course each participant will be able to:

  • Assess a critically ill child with cardiac , respiratory, neurologic or multi-organ dysfunction and formulate a treatment plan
  • Function as a member or leader of a multi-disciplinary pediatric critical care provider team while demonstrating situational leadership skills
  • Understand need for prioritization of treatment plans, judicious use of ancillary laboratory and radiological investigations

  • How to assess a critically ill child
  • Dehydration, fluid, electrolytes and acid-base disorders
  • Blood gas analysis
  • Respiratory failure & principle of mechanical ventilation
  • Cardiovascular failure & management of pediatric shock
  • Acute kidney injury(AKI) in critical illness
  • Pediatric traumatic head injury and management of intracranial hypertension in children
  • Pediatric sedation & pain management
  • Hematology-oncology emergencies in the critically ill child
  • Pediatric resuscitation
